One of the mistakes many first time feature filmmakers make, is that they never made short movies. Or if they have made short movies, they didn't make enough shorts to fully learn the filmmaking process.
Making a feature before mastering a short, is the equivalent of running a marathon before you learn to walk. You're just setting yourself up for failure. The good news is, making a short film can be a pretty simple, painless and fun process.
